I grew up with a great number of music lovers who passed this love on to me. The record player was a primary source of family entertainment during my formative years and variety shows featuring musical performances often occupied the black and white television sets of my extended family. Ed Sullivan, Lawrence Welk, Dean Martin, Tom Jones, Sonny and Cher, and several others came into our living rooms and brought smiles to each of my grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts, cousins, sisters and me.
Music has accompanied me through good times and bad, taught me, made me smile and cry. Many songs attach to moments in my past and take me back to recall people, relive raw emotions, and think about the struggles, failures, and achievements I’ve encountered through my life.
I was asked to participate in a challenge to identify the top 10 albums that impacted my life. Narrowing this list to 10 has proven to be a difficult task. The list is below and my thoughts about each can be found through their link. This exercise was a fun trip down memory lane and I encourage you to take the same challenge. I’m certain you will learn things about yourself that apply to today’s experiences, just as I have. We all grow from our roots.
